Preliminary Feelings about Digital Media

Hi everyone, my name is Maximo Rivano. I am a Sophomore at UTampa and just transferred here this semester, Spring of 25'. I'm super excited about this class and learning more about tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, and InDesign. I've never used InDesign or Adobe Premiere, so I'm excited to understand those and apply them to my life and social media platforms through some method down the line. I have high hopes for this class and look forward to learning more than I ever have from any digital media class in the past.

Business Card/Logo Assignment

The Generative AI logo I used for my first business card was inspired by the candy pop rocks, but I wanted to add my own twist. I used Adobe Firefly to create the generative AI image using a Harry Potter lightning-inspired font and an image of lightning to combine the two. It was a fun process I learned from a YouTube video that showed me the incredible capabilities of AI that I had no idea existed. Later, I brought the generative AI logo into Illustrator, used image trace only 16 colors, and then manually removed the background as best as I could, which was quite tedious. The handmade vector logo design I created, which ended up being more than one version with different variations, is based on a merchandise and clothing brand idea that closely relates to my name and is pronounced MX-WEAR. Shape and Pen Tool Assignment

I feel pretty good about my time using Illustrator. This was my first time working on a project like this, and I felt very capable throughout the assignment. The only real challenge I faced was access to the building where I needed to complete my work. Unfortunately, this caused some delays, but once I had access, I was able to work efficiently and confidently. I feel that I have a strong grasp of the shape and pen tools, which are fundamental in Illustrator, and I was able to use them effectively to complete my design. This project took me about an hour and a half in total because I wanted to be extremely precise. I paid close attention to detail to ensure my lines were smooth, my curves were accurate, and my overall design was as polished as possible. I didn't want to rush through it, as I knew that taking my time would help me build a stronger understanding of the tools. Dear Future Me, As I sit here in 2025, I wonder what life looks like for you two decades from now. Are you where you always dreamed of being? Have you accomplished the goals you once set for yourself? I hope, more than anything, that you’ve stayed true to the person I am today while growing into someone even stronger, wiser, and kinder.
