Dear Future Me,
As I sit here in 2025, I wonder what life looks like for you two decades from now. Are you where you always dreamed of being? Have you accomplished the goals you once set for yourself? I hope, more than anything, that you’ve stayed true to the person I am today while growing into someone even stronger, wiser, and kinder.
Right now, life is full of change and possibilities. I’m just finishing acclimating myself to my transfer to the University of Tampa. I'm excited and eager to meet more people but also a little nervous about what’s ahead. I’ve been working hard to build discipline, whether in my workouts, my career, or just figuring out who I want to be. Have you kept up with that? Have you stayed active, pushing your limits in the gym, on the court, or maybe even in new ways I haven’t thought of yet? I hope you still play pickleball and soccer those games mean a lot to me now. Hopefully, I haven't hung up the boots ye.t
Beyond fitness, I hope you've kept the relationships that matter. I wonder how Mom, Dad, and my sister are doing. I hope you’ve tried to stay connected with them despite how busy life gets. I know life can pull us in different directions, but I never want to lose sight of family. Have you visited Dad in Barcelona recently? Have you shared laughs and deep conversations with your sister? If not, make the time now.
What about love? Right now, I’m in a relationship, and I hope you’ve built something strong with the same person or someone new. If you have kids, I hope you’re the kind of parent you always wanted to be, loving, patient, and present. Remember all the lessons Mom and Dad taught us, through their highs and their lows, especially the tough ones. I hope you've made the best of them your own.
Career-wise, are you doing something fulfilling? Right now, I’m practicing for a summer full of sales and diving into marketing and public relations in school. I hope you’ve found a way to merge your talents with your passions. Whether running a business, working in PR, or something completely unexpected, I just hope you wake up excited about what you do.
Lastly, I want to remind you to keep growing. Keep learning, exploring, and chasing the things that make life meaningful. If things haven’t gone as planned, remember that setbacks are just stepping stones. You’ve overcome a lot already, and I know you can do so much more.
No matter where you are, just know your younger self is rooting for you.
Best,
Maximo
